Single Review - SILVI - Wish You'd Stay

Updated: Aug 29, 2021

Hello and welcome back to Braw Gals In Music! This week we will be reviewing SILVI's new single 'Wish You'd Stay'!

Let's jump right into it...

SILVI are an alt-pop duo who are becoming prolific members of the Scottish music scene since releasing their first single in 2020. The duo composed of vocalist Jodi Findlay and instrumentalist Cameron McLean are making waves throughout the local scene and are gearing up to play their first in-person gig on the 3rd of September at the Edinburgh Mash House!

Wish You'd Stay, is an emotional and beautifully written track that explores the heart-wrenching themes of grief and loss, something that sadly everyone can relate to at some point within their life. The track opens with piano before Jodi's incredible vocal melody enters and navigates the story of the song and so beautifully depicts the tracks theme.

The single remains mostly as a piano and vocal centered track however really opens up around the three minute mark with drum and other instrumental parts entering and creating this incredibly powerful ending to the song that is sure to bring a tear to your eye. Every component of the song is a highlight however, Jodi's emotional and somewhat vulnerable vocal delivery takes the song to a whole new level.

Overall, I think that this is SILVI's strongest track yet and makes me so excited to hear what they will do next! Make sure to check them out on social media to keep up to date with upcoming releases and gig announcements.
